In Mikel Arteta’s key games this season, Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher thinks Arsenal manager will start Kai Havertz again instead of Viktor Gyokeres.
You may remember that in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Manchester United, Gyokeres—who signed with Arsenal from Sporting CP this summer—started ahead of Havertz.
Before being substituted by Havertz at the hour mark, the Sweden international had a meagre 21 touches off the ball and was unable to register a single shot on goal.
Thanks to a goal from Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal came out on top 1-0. However, Carragher thinks Gyokeres might be pushed to the bench shortly, as Havertz is expected to start again against Liverpool at the end of the month. Havertz will start again in the important games, in Carragher’s honest opinion, he stated on Sky Sports.
“Gyokeres is a player I could envision playing and scoring goals. Havertz should start the following week [against Liverpool], but I’m shocked he sits out the one after that, when they play Leeds.
I believe Mikel Arteta views Havertz as a player who is too valuable to be benched week after week. That is completely not going to happen.
