Mohammed Idris, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, made the announcement at Thursday’s APC World Media Briefing in Abuja. He said that 8,453 delegates, representing all six of the country’s geopolitical zones, would be attending the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in 2017.
While reiterating the party’s dedication to promoting national development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister said that the convention will showcase the party’s openness, solidarity, and democratic sophistication.
A grand total of 8,453 delegates from all corners of the nation are on their way. According to him, this proves how widespread, welcoming, and powerful our great party is on a national level.
The minister went on to say, “Comprehensive arrangements have been concluded to accommodate all accredited delegates without exception” while answering questions from journalists in Abuja.
Every single person will be included, I promise you that. He assured the delegates that the party was fiscally responsible and that the budget could be adjusted to please everyone.
According to Idris, there have been no problems or hiccups with the transportation of delegates and committee members from different regions of the nation.
We have not documented any occurrences so far and do not anticipate any in the near future. He went on to say that this was a result of the country’s steadily improving security condition and its continuously developing infrastructure.
In order to ensure that all accredited media organisations are provided access for coverage, the minister further disclosed that the convention location will have a fully working media center.
To keep Nigerians well-informed, a media center is going to be established. He said that all media companies were invited and that credentials would be supplied to ensure effective coverage.
“It is important that we report responsibly, honestly, and in the national interest, bearing in mind that Nigeria remains at the heart of everything we do,” he said, urging journalists to maintain professionalism in their reporting.
