American musician Silento has received a 30-year prison sentence for the murder of his cousin. The musician, who was 27 years old at the time of sentencing, admitted to aggravated assault and handgun possession. In 2021, Silento admitted to killing his 34-year-old relative, Frederick Rooks III, according to the Naijatrial.
On January 21, 2021, Rooks was discovered by the DeKalb County Police Department with numerous gunshot wounds.
According to the investigation, the dead were last seen in a white BMW SUV with Silento before the musician was arrested.
The same white BMW SUV was seen speeding away from the scene of the crime on the surveillance tape of a neighbour shortly after the shots were fired.
The rapper “has been suffering from series of mental health illnesses for the past several years,” according to a statement released by Silento’s public relations manager Chanel Hudson in response to the musician’s release from jail.
The rapper faced two counts of assault in August 2020, before the incident, for reportedly attacking two individuals in their residence with a hatchet.
“I have been fighting demons my whole life,” Silento claimed in 2019 during an interview on the medical discussion show “The Doctors.”. These demons, I don’t know if they will ever leave.
