The Chairman of the Senate Committee on South East Development Commission (SEDC), Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North), stated that bandits are mercenaries brought into Nigeria by politicians.
Uzor Kalu expressed this during an interview on Sunday Politics, a program aired on Channels Television and monitored by Naijatrial. His remarks come in light of the ongoing security issues facing the nation.
He noted, “People are being killed in Nigeria while discussions about the upcoming 2027 elections continue. It’s clear that everything revolves around politics. Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of police officers assigned to VIPs.
“These individuals (bandits) are essentially mercenaries sent by politicians. They are individuals brought in to undermine the president who is eager to rejuvenate our economy.”
When questioned if President Bola Tinubu was aware of the information he was sharing, the former governor of Abia State replied, “Tinubu is the president of Nigeria. He possesses a wealth of information around him.
“As a citizen of this nation, I recognize that there are people funding these bandits to destabilize Nigeria, but we are prepared to confront them. The Federal Government will take action against them.
