They understand the landscape’ – Sani advocates for the deployment of security forces to their home states

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has urged the Federal Government to focus on hiring military and police personnel and assigning them to their home states.

In a message on his verified X account on Wednesday, Sani expressed that sending security forces to their own states is the most effective strategy to combat terrorism, as they are more familiar with the terrain than outsiders from different states.

He also emphasized the need for thorough training and the provision of advanced equipment to improve their effectiveness.

His remarks come in light of the increasing security issues facing Nigeria, where citizens, including schoolchildren, are being kidnapped throughout the nation. Escalating insecurity: Calls grow for the creation of state police

“In the fight against bandits and terrorists, the recruitment of military and police personnel should focus on areas experiencing the most insecurity.

“They should be recruited, trained, equipped, and deployed to their respective states and regions to confront the criminals. They are more knowledgeable about their terrain than anyone else,” he stated.
