Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a Kano state lawmaker and long-time APC party chieftain, has spoken out about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s order to halt the APC’s online registration drive until Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf formally becomes a party member.
Claiming that the president has already welcomed Governor Yusuf into the APC, the legislator made the assertion in a video shared on X by @jrnaib2.
When Tinubu announced his acceptance of Abba, he asked, “What could you do?” So, what’s your plan?
“The President and the APC national leadership have directed that it should be put on hold. Tomorrow, we were going to start APC e-registration in Kano, but Tinubu has accepted him into the party instead.”
It is not clear when Doguwa made the remarks, but they coincide with the APC’s statewide membership registration drive.
He stated that the president and the APC leadership are eager for Governor Yusuf to e-register in Kano before anyone else.

A user named @auwal_sls stated that Abba is not prepared to join the APC in response to the remarks, while another user named @Teemaah88 predicted that Kano State “will lose this election.”
It has been reported that the governor and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who serves as both a political mentor to the governor, have been receiving calls from close associates of Abba Kabir Yusuf to join the APC.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the state commissioner for information, and other government officials have come out in support of the requests, saying that the Kano people would benefit much from a defection to the APC. Nevertheless, Kwankwaso has strongly disapproved of the proposal.
On multiple occasions, he has urged the governor to step down from his position and join the APC if that is his choice.
Additionally, there have been rumours circulating that the governor was supposed to defect to the APC last Monday. However, Abba Kabir Yusuf has chosen to remain mute on the matter, thus it has not yet come to pass.
