Chibuike Nwaiwu, a defender for Trabzonspor, has been named to the Super Eagles’ roster in place of Calvin Bassey for the upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.
Because of his back issue, Bassey will not be participating in the forthcoming friendlies.
The center defender hurt himself last weekend while playing for Fulham in their 3-1 Craven Cottage win against Burnley.
Nwaiwu’s invitation to the Super Eagles is a first.
In January, the 22-year-old transferred from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC to Trabzonspor.
With the Black Sea Storm, the Enyimba star has made 10 league appearances, scoring twice and assisting once.
