Six persons died when a gas-laden truck exploded at an Army checkpoint on the Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, detailed the incident in a post on X on Tuesday night.
According to the post, the explosion occurred inside the authority of the Chikara Division, prompting a quick reaction from police officers, MTD staff, and FRSC officials.
The gas truck, which was delivering gas cylinders, apparently burst as it approached the Army checkpoint, resulting in a large fire that spread to neighbouring vehicles.
“The gas truck driver and his motor boy were roasted to death, and the fire also consumed three more trucks, killing their drivers and motor boys. Makama wrote that six persons were killed in the incident.
The afflicted trucks, with registration numbers from Jigawa State, Lagos State, and the Federal Capital Territory, were completely destroyed by fire.
According to the post, the victims’ remains were transferred to the General Hospital in Abaji, and the burning vehicles were removed from the highway to allow traffic to continue freely.
