Oyo State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of stepping down from his position as head of state to focus on party politics.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) said the governor has abandoned his responsibilities as governor and is instead focusing on matters unrelated to his 2027 political ambitions.
Wasiu Olawale Sadare, the party’s Publicity Secretary, released a statement on Thursday making these accusations.
Many issues that needed the governor’s attention have been neglected as he was unavailable to offer solutions, according to the party.
Sadare asserted in the statement that the governor ought to have been present in light of the recent security breaches, waste management issues, and traffic accidents that befell the state, yet he was conspicuously absent.
The group went on to urge the governor to put state government needs first, rather than getting caught up in party politics.
“This alarm may have been prompted by recent events in the state, including issues with security, waste management, and the needless loss of lives due to road accidents. Many in the political and public affairs communities felt that the Oyo state government should have paid more attention to these and other pressing matters.
Tragically, several Ibadan people lost their lives in a road accident at Oje market last Tuesday. Just hours later, Governor Makinde called a meeting of his supporters to discuss politics for 2027, and they all agreed on a date to abandon the political death ship (PDP).
As the community grieved the next day, Governor Makinde chose to celebrate his careless waste of taxpayer funds on the acquisition of brand-new cars for the ineffective elected council officials and unlawful party officials.
