Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his selection as the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) presidential candidate for 2027.
Melaye compared Atiku’s triumph in the ADC presidential primaries to Arsenal’s recent success in the English Premier League.
In an X post, Melaye wrote, “Boss, you did it just like Arsenal.”
Tunde Ogbeha, who oversaw the ADC presidential primary election, confirmed on Wednesday night that Atiku had won.
According to Ogbeha, Atiku won with 1,846,370 votes over two other contenders, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen and Rotimi Amaechi.
Amaechi garnered 504,117 votes, while Hayatu-Deen received 177,120 votes.
Atiku will be aiming for the presidency for the sixth time in 2027.
He ran for president three times: in 2007, 2019, and 2023.
Arsenal celebrated their first English Premier League title in 22 years on May 19, when Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, allowing Arsenal to claim the championship.
