The club’s management announced that they will play at Sani Abacha Stadium until renovations at their original venue, Dambatta Stadium, are finished. Dambatta Stadium is currently undergoing significant upgrades to comply with NPFL standards.
Last season, Barau FC earned promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) from the Nigeria National League (NNL).
This will be the Kano club’s first time competing in the Nigerian top-flight. They have recently brought on board an experienced coach, Ladan Bosso, as their technical adviser.
In their opening match of the 2025/26 season, Barau FC will take on the record champions, Enyimba Football Club of Aba. The new season is set to begin on Friday, August 22.
