On Monday morning, multiple commuters were injured when a Honda vehicle collided with two commercial tricycles at the Federal Bus Stop on Ipaja Road in Lagos State.
A Honda car with the registration number KTU 921 JY was involved in the accident, which occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision resulted in injuries to approximately 10 passengers, which were of variable severity.
The female driver of the Honda vehicle was allegedly travelling at a high speed when she attempted to avoid striking a street sweeper attached to the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), according to eyewitness accounts from the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver struck the sweeper before losing control of the vehicle, which allegedly crossed into the opposing lane and collided with two commercial tricycles.
Some of the victims were reported to have suffered severe injuries, while others were able to escape with minor injuries.
According to a correspondent who was present at the scene, the injured passengers were initially transported to a nearby private medical facility for emergency treatment. Subsequently, a portion of them were transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for additional care.
The site was occupied by Nigeria Police Force personnel from the Gowon Divisional Headquarters, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and neighbourhood security personnel, who were observed coordinating rescue efforts and regulating traffic flow.
Authorities had not yet issued an official statement concerning the disaster at the time this report was submitted.
