Police and EFCC rescue 14 kidnapping victims from Calabar-Oron waterways

The Nigeria Police Force claims that, in coordination with EFCC operatives, it successfully secured the release of fourteen victims kidnapped by marine pirates along the Calabar-Oron waterways.

According to a statement signed by DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the victims were rescued as a result of continued intelligence-driven operations, strong inter-agency teamwork, and coordinated tactical actions against criminal forces operating in the maritime corridor.

It stated that, based on credible intelligence, the combined operatives increased surveillance and executed targeted operations across known flashpoints, resulting in the safe rescue of all victims without injury.

“The rescued victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and necessary debriefing, after which they will be reunited with their families,” the statement stated.

It stated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, congratulated the joint security team on the successful rescue, characterising it as a tribute to excellent inter-agency teamwork and intelligence-led operations.

The Nigeria Police Force assured the public that efforts are on to locate and apprehend all culprits involved in the abduction and bring them to justice.
