The fourth meeting between the US and Iran to discuss the nuclear deal was never officially announced, according to the US Department of State.
It was anticipated that the two sides would meet again this coming weekend, following last week’s third meeting in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
In a post on X, Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, had previously hinted at the postponement of a fourth round, reiterating the Islamic Republic’s resolve to reach “a fair and balanced deal.”
According to Araghchi, “for logistical and technical reasons,” the fourth session of negotiations has been postponed. He explained that this decision was reached in collaboration with Omani and U.S. interlocutors.
According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, no specifics about the upcoming meeting involving Iran’s nuclear program have been announced yet during a briefing.
“I will say it again: the United States was never officially invited to a fourth round of negotiations,” Bruce said.
The State Department “will not discuss the where or the when,” she said, adding that neither the time nor the location has been decided. According to our people and our envoy, it seems like something could happen soon,” Bruce continued.
