Hajiya Umma Ahmadu, the Commissioner for Health, stated on Sunday that since taking office, Governor Uba Sani has shown that health is not a privilege but rather a fundamental human right in Kaduna State through his policies and improved employee welfare.
He added that the governor is enhancing the welfare of people in charge of the health sector in addition to modernising hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres throughout the state.
According to a statement released by Chief Press Secretary Malam Ibraheem Musa, the Commissioner promised that as 15% of the 2026 budget has been set aside for the health sector, all pending promotions of medical staff will be taken into consideration this year.
All health sector employees will be involved in the Ministry’s evaluation of all promotion cases across all of its parastatals. “Those who deserve it will be promoted,” she assured them.
Recalling that Kaduna State health workers had praised him last year for the implementation of the Consolidated Salary structure, the Commissioner contended that Governor Uba Sani has been attending to the welfare of medical professionals since it came on board.
In September of last year, Governor Uba Sani was commended by the Kaduna State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) for implementing the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for their members.
A letter dated September 2, 2025, signed by Comrade Ishaku Yakubu, the State Chairman, and Comrade Christiana Bawa, the State Secretary, respectively, expressed the commendation.
“The council said that the one act of generosity and justice has given many committed nurses in your administration and Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda new hope,” she recounted.
The Commissioner added that Governor Uba Sani had received praise for putting CONMESS and CONHESS into effect from the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), through its chairman, Dr. Hassan Baba Salihu.
